What is the SoPH Alumni Association?

The SoPH Alumni Association is an independent, alumni-led organization that supports graduates of the School of Professional Horticulture at the New York Botanical Garden. We work alongside NYBG and the School to strengthen alumni connections and engagement.

What is our mission?

Our mission is to foster a connected alumni community and support alumni’s professional growth through networking, mentorship, and events.


Membership

Who can join?

All graduates of the School of Professional Horticulture’s professional program are welcome to join.


Is the alumni association open to anyone who has attended classes at NYBG?

Unfortunately no. The alumni association is only open to graduates of the multi-year, full-time professional horticulture school.

Is there a cost to join?

No. Membership is free and there is no obligation to participate.

How do I join?

Programs and Activities

What does the Association do?

We focus on building connections among alumni through:
– An online alumni directory
– A mentorship program
– Networking events and gatherings

Do I have to participate in everything?

Not at all. You can engage as much or as little as you’d like — from simply staying listed in the directory to mentoring or attending events.
